All roads lead to Canvey Island on Bank Holiday Monday when Jeff King's men welcome Ryman League Premier Division leaders Dagenham and Redbridge for a match expected to attract a crowd well over the 1,000 mark.

The game (1.30pm) which sees Gulls, new to the top flight this time and currently standing fifth, up against Gary Hill's high-flying aristocrats is one everybody wants to see.

Daggers are very much the team of the season at this level so far. They've played 19 Ryman games and have won 15 of them - losing just one in the process.

Unless they start hitting a bad patch soon there's no doubt that they'll have the championship sewn up by March, but King is making no bold predictions that his side will be the ones to start the rot setting in for the Victoria Road outfit.

He said: "It would be daft for anyone here to start predicting we're going to be the ones to end their great run.

"They're obviously a very good side and Gary has acted quickly to get them in a very strong position in his first season at the club.

"Obviously we'd love to take all three points as it would knock them back and give us a boost up the table.

"There's no point thinking that they've got the title won already even though they have an eight point lead at the top. If we conceded it now there would be nothing to play for.

"What I will say is that this is a game where the supporters could play a big part. They'll bring a large number of fans down with them and it's important that we're not overwhelmed in that department.

"I hope that all our supporters have a really great Christmas - and then get down to Park Lane in huge numbers on Monday and get behind us in what promises to be quite a game."

My own feelings are that we could be in for a classic between two sides packed with individual ability and, sorry to sit on the fence, but my gut feeling is that we may be witnessing a sharing of the spoils.

Daggers are strong at both ends of the field and their goals for (47) and against (11) tallies are the best in the division.
