Residents at a sheltered housing complex in Benfleet refused to let the flu bug dampen the spirits of their Christmas party.
Around 35, including family and friends, enjoyed the festive social night at Gowan Court in Gowan Close. Castle Point mayor Tony Hurd and his wife Pat also went along to join in the fun which included songs and music from Stanford performers Thru'penny Joeys.
Kathleen Rustall, warden at the council run complex, said: "Everyone enjoyed themselves.
"We were a little low on numbers as some of our residents were laid low by the flu bug but there was lots of dancing and eating."
