On a frosty Tuesday night at the Brentwood Centre, Brentwood completed an Easter Floodlight double over Stansted with an Eddie Martin goal in the 62nd minute.
The Blues were without regular midfield players Craig Mead and Darren Hitchcock as well as still missing Dave Allen and Grant Delea.
Brentwood had the better of the chances in the First half, and Doug Allsop had a shot turned onto a post by Stansted goalkeeper Mark Whitmore in the fourth minute.
But the expected goal did not come before half-time and Stansted gave Brentwood two scares early in the second half.
Firstly, Martin gave the ball away, presenting Eric Bikubi with a chance to beat Dave Pether but his shot rebounded off a post.
Then a close range header by Antony Colocasidou was saved by Pether after a good cross by Ross Embleton.
Martin's first goal for Brentwood came following a free kick, the left back picking up the loose ball and drilling a fierce shot past Whitamore.
More chances came Brentwood's way in the final minutes but Dave Stittle, twice, Martin Winter and Paul Brewington all failed to find the net.
The result put Brentwood level with Leyton Pennant in group six of the competition and the two matches between Brentwood and Pennant in January will decide the final places in the table.
