Police are looking for a youth with a 'Benny-style' hat and a facial scar who, with an accomplice, robbed £500 from a mobile burger stall last Wednesday.
The two male suspects raided the Lunch Box eatery in the B&Q car park, Colchester Road, Harold Hill at 2.30pm.
Police are hoping the distinctive headgear, a baggy black woollen hat similar to that of the character Benny in the former TV soap Crossroads, and scar of one of the robbers will be remembered by those in the busy car park that day.
On entering the snack bar, one of the suspects ordered the two waitresses to 'stand still and shut up' while they stole a metal cash box containing the money.
They then escaped towards Gallows Corner. The suspects are both described as white males.
One was about 5ft 8in, of proportionate build, aged about 18 and was clean shaven.
He was wearing a black baseball cap, thought to have a Nike logo.
The other suspect with the woolly hat was about 5ft 7in tall and of thin build, aged about 17 and had a one inch scar on his right hand cheek.
Police are asking for any witnesses to call 01708 779241 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111
