Fundraisers are celebrating getting almost half-way to their target for a hospital breast scanner - just a month after launching the appeal.
A minimum of £70,000 is needed to buy the state-of-the-art machine for Essex County Hospital in Colchester, and £32,060 has already been raised.
The Breast Scanner 2000 Appeal was launched in November at the Town Hall.
It is being co-ordinated by the Colchester League of Hospital and Community Friends who say they are overjoyed at the total and the generosity of north Essex residents.
A benefit circus performance in Wivenhoe in October raised £952 for the appeal.
Pippa Hardy, from the league, said it was all thanks to local companies, individuals and organisations who were approached by performers Circus Starr to buy tickets for the shows.
