Despite wet conditions more suitable for ducks, Castle Point Golf Club held their annual turkey trot.
A depleted field did manage to complete the course and, with club captain Des Pitt donating numerous prizes, some very good scores were returned.
The three "nearest the pin" awards were won by Bob Bendall (sixth), Terry Loveday (eighth) and Alistair Milne (17th).
Vice-captain Bendall also managed to win the best front nine with 20 points, while captain Des Pitt's son Stewart, who plays off seven, pipped his father to win the best back nine, also on 20.
However, the big battle was for overall honours. With several golfers coming in with 37 points the contest was very close.
Then in came Andy Loveday (8) with 38 points to claim second spot.
However, he was just short of the winning score which was recorded by former captain/chairman Bill Foster (10) who claimed his second individual win of the season - and of his membership of Castle Point which spans 11 years - to take home the turkey with 39 points.
