Kent Elms and Westcliff Hard booked their places in the second round of the Leigh and Westcliff LTA men's winter cup.
The Hardcourts hosted Wickford in their first round game but a one set play-off was needed to settle the match.
Darren Bertola and Terry Hooper defeated Wickford's Stewart Clark and Neil George 6-1 6-0 to claim the first rubber.
But the visitors levelled through Cliff Warwick and Dave Goodman who beat Bernard Horwood and Mark Bradford 6-2 7-5.
In the play-off Horwood and Bertola triumphed 6-1.
Kent Elms had no worries as they cruised to a four sets to nil victory against Crowstone.
Terry Savage and Bryan Bone set the ball rolling with a 6-2 6-0 defeat over Paul Bundock and Rick Kilworth.
Then Nigel White and Graham Evans wrapped things up by seeing off Alex Welsh and Garry Kilworth 6-1 6-0.
Kent Elms will have home advantage after being drawn against Westcliff Hard in the second round.
Invicta and Westcliff Lawn will meet in the other tie where both competitors are known.
Hadleigh Park, who had a first round bye, will face the winner of the Thorpe Bay v Southend Lawn game.
And Leigh, who also received a bye, will play either Hockley or Rochford in the second round games which commence in the new year.
Kent Elms got their ladies team through to the second round too after they beat Crowstone 4-0.
Elms duo Mandy White and Gail Webster enjoyed a 6-2 6-0 win over Angela Green wood and Stephanie Andrews.
Then Marilyn Sharples and Brenda Lincoln completed the victory be beating Chris Tannock and Kitty Livingston 6-4 6-3.
Wickford ladies received a walkover into the second round after the Rochford team failed to arrive for their game.
The results mean Wickford will meet the winner of Southend Lawn v Hockley and Kent Elms will face either Hadleigh Park or St Peters.
Leigh and Invicta both received byes through to the second round which also starts in the new year.
