Witham introduced new signing Lee Burns, who played in the middle of the defence, for Saturday's match at Spa Road, but he could not do anything to prevent Town from another heavy defeat and so their disastrous season continues.

At half-time the visitors held a one goal advantage as it had been a close fought period, with little to choose between the teams.

Witham had their chances as Chris Bassett and Paul Dean both shot wide but for most of the first half they suffered from a lack of service from the midfield.

The first goal came in the 35th minute when Witham goalkeeper Chris Kreihn failed to hold the slippery ball after a shot and as it slipped from his grasp, it was passed back to one of the League's leading goalscorers, Leon Constantine, who shot the ball into the empty net.

Soon after the restart, a free kick by Darren Raymond put Edgware further ahead.

Another free kick from the same place, on the edge of the penalty area, led to Edgware's third goal when the kick was blocked by the defensive wall but it skied over the top to Dennis Attow who scored from close range.

Witham staged some late attacks but the damage was done and Raymond scored the visitor's fourth goal with five minutes to go when he ran through the defence unchallenged and netted with ease.

Witham Town reserves were hammered 13-1 by a strong Dagenham & Redbridge side that included many first team players as their senior team did not have a game on Saturday.

The under 18's game at Tiptree was called off.

On Saturday Witham first team are at Metropolitan Police for a Ryman League match. A supporters coach leaves Spa Road at 11.30am sharp.

The reserves are also away, to Harlow Town, and the Witham youth team will be at Spa Road on Sunday to play Bowers United (kick off 11am).
