Bowers United's home clash with Burnham Ramblers looks to be the pick of Saturday's Schweppes Essex Senior League programme.

The Pitsea outfit enjoyed a fabulous 1998/99 campaign in which they pulled off a championship and cup double.

The side has changed a lot from those days following the departure of manager Tony Cross to Ryman League Tilbury in the summer.

But new boss John Warner has done a steady job of getting a squad together and they are still more than capable of troubling most outfits in the League.

Southend Manor are handily-placed in the table and should carry too much ammunition for visitors East Ham tomorrow before preparing for their eagerly-awaited Essex Senior Cup fourth round home tie with Ryman Premier side Purfleet on Tuesday.

Having already disposed of East Thurrock at Southchurch Park in the last round, Mark Jenkins and his players will be keen to try and dispose of Colin McBride's Fleet to earn a place in the last eight.
