Heybridge Swifts reached the last eight of the Ryman League Cup on a bitterly cold Tuesday night at Scraley Road with a 3-1 win over neighbours Braintree Town.
Braintree, who had Trevor Gunn in goal for the first half-hour with Nicky Rust delayed, took the lead through Ian Brown against the run of play after 20 minutes.
Simon Parker cracked a shot against the bar, and home pressure told in the last minute of the half as Dave McKrory fed Parker to score.
After 70 minutes substitute Nicky Simpson caused havoc on the right and his deep cross was headed home by Parker.
Brown was dismissed for a physical assault on Kingsley Banks, and Parker rounded off a fine evening's work in the last minute by completing his hat-trick.
