Richie Powling has been sacked as manager of Ryman League division two side Braintree Town by chairman George Rosling.
The former Arsenal midfielder was axed after Tuesday night's 3-1 defeat at Heybridge Swifts in the league cup and has already been replaced by former Dagenham and Redbridge chief John Bennett.
The defeat was the final nail in the coffin for former Harwich and Sudbury boss Powling and he was sacrificed after a run of 11 games without a win for the Cressing Road club.
Just six weeks ago the club was pushing for promotion at the top of division two but they have since dropped to mid-table.
