Essex was today put on alert for the first snow of the winter.
Weather forecasters said there was a chance of heavy falls tonight. The county woke up to a widespread frost this morning.
Forecasters said the cold weather is expected to continue for the next few days.
Tomorrow and and Thursday will stay sunny and dry, but with a cold northerly wind. Rain and sleet are expected to reach the south of the county by Friday afternoon.
