A Dovercourt darts player who collapsed during a match later died in hospital.
Norman Double, known as Titch, was playing for the RA Club at the United Services Club in Dovercourt.
Mr Double, of Willow Way, who was in his 70s, had just won his game when he collapsed from a suspected heart attack. As a mark of respect, the RA Club have called off this Friday's match.
Mr Double was born in the town, working at Harwich train ferry terminal. He is survived by his widow Betty and sons Martin and Leslie, who is Harwich's county councillor.
Mr Double's funeral will be at Upper Dovercourt Methodist Chapel next Tuesday.
