Youngsters at Woodham Ley Primary School, Rushbottom Lane, Benfleet, took part in a non-uniform day to raise cash for the charity Crossroads.
The charity helps young people who care for disabled or sick relatives. The children each paid 25p for the luxury of being able to wear their own clothes to school.
And to help the Christmas celebrations on their way the pupils were treated to a performance of Around the World in 80 Days by the Snap theatre company.
Headteacher Ros Dunhill said: "It was a fantastic show. The Snap theatre company is always excellent and puts on a very good performance. It was superb. It was great to see all the children involving themselves during the non-uniform day.
"Even while they were having fun they were thinking of others."
