Youngsters from all over north Essex descended on Essex University for this year's Schools Cross-Country Championships.
This year's competition was more open than usual with a different winner in nearly every category.
The overall winners in both boys and girls categories were Philip Morant, duplicating their success of last year.
The course was designed by athletic coach John Hyland who was assisted on the day by members of Colchester and Tendring Athletic Club.
Results: Boys: Year 7: 1 Tendring, 2 Thurstable, 3 Boys High; Years 8 and 9: 1 Colne, 2 Philip Morant, 3 TLA; Years 10 and 11: 1 Philip Morant, 2 St Helena, 3 Colbayns; Seniors: 1 Sixth Form College, 2 Philip Morant, 3 Clacton County High. Overall Boys: 1 Philip Morant; 2 Boys High, 3 Tendring.
Girls: Year 7: . 1 Alderman Blaxill, 2 St Mary's, 3 Tendring; Years 8 and 9: 1 St Mary's, 2 Colchester County High, 3 St Benedicts; Years 10 and 11: 1 Colchester County High, 2 Philip Morant, 3 Tendring. Overall Girls: 1 Philip Morant, 2 Tendring, 3 Clacton County High. They're off - the start of the Year 7 boys race.
