A good-sized crowd turned out to enjoy this exciting game of end-to-end rugby which Basildon clinched by three points.
Westcliff continously rucked their hosts off the ball, but the new towners were superior in the mauls, gaining possession which their backs profitted from.
Basildon held on in the second-half through good tackling to seal the win.
The new towners' tries came from Danny Bellefontaine (two), Grandma Griggson (two), Greg Wilson and Tommy Hurley. Wilson also got two conversions.
