Match-winning teenager Lomana Tresor Lua Lua will spearhead the Colchester attack when Steve Whitton's revamped side take on Swansea City today.
Lua Lua, the U's hero in the Second Division clash with fellow-strugglers Chesterfield on Friday, will be on from the start in an Auto Windscreen Shield first round line-up that will be without at least four regulars at the Vetch Field.
The four men definitely missing are:
Central defender David Greene, who will lose his ever-present tag because of a one-match suspension
Utility man Gavin Johnson, who has a pelvic problem
Striker Karl Duguid, who has a twisted knee
Loanee goalkeeper John Vaughan, who does not want to get himself cup-tied.
Whitton could be faced with another headache if impressive defender Alan White, currently two games into a one-month loan spell, is prevented from playing by his club Luton Town.
"It's all part of the learning process for lads like Lomana," said Whitton. "He will get a chance from the start against Swansea to show us all what he is made of."
