A gun was fired when two men raided a post office in Dock Road, Grays around 4.15pm yesterday.
Two men wearing stocking masks entered the post office -- one with a gun and the other wielding a baseball bat. They demanded cash and a shot was fired. Nobody was hurt.
The men were aged 20 to 27 and around 6ft tall. They were wearing dark clothing.
Police are appealing for anybody who saw the men enter or leave the shop, saw them acting suspiciously or running off discarding items or getting into a car to contact them on 01375 391212 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111
