Staff at four fast-food shops around Basildon went to sea in a bid to raise cash for fishermen's widows and children.
Workers at Fish'n'Chick'n shops dressed up in fancy dress as they collected cash to boost the coffers of the Royal National Mission to Deep Sea Fishermen. At the Laindon Centre eatery, staff donned trawlermen's costumes to mark the fundraising day.
Manager Paul Goodgame, 24, said: "A few customers said how good it is for us to do this sort of thing for charity - and how we looked like a bunch of wallies!"
Fish'n'Chick'n shops in Long Ridings, South Walk and the Knares were also involved in the fundraiser.
On top of the collection, two per cent of each store's takings will go to the charity.
