The driver of a car who knocked a cyclist off his bike was today urged to come forward - before the police to find him.
Computer analyst Stewart Holbrook, 26, of Littlebury Green, Basildon, is off work sick with a fractured collar bone, minor head injuries and bruising to his legs.
He was riding home from work along Burnt Mills Road, close to its junction with Rushley in Felmores, when the car turned right and collided with him. Mr Holbrook was found laying in the road by a passer-by who called police.
The car involved was nowhere to be seen. It is believed to be a Ford Escort Cabriolet, possibly silver.
PC Phillip Matthews of Laindon Traffic Police, said: "It's a hit and run without a doubt. The lights on the bike were all working properly and I can't see any reason why the driver shouldn't have seen him.
"We would urge the driver to come forward now before we come to find him."
Anyone with information about the accident which happened at about 6.30pm on Saturday, November 27, should call 01268 541312.
