A George I long case clock which survived a Colchester air raid sold at auction for £7,000 - about £1,000 more than the estimated price.
A private individual from Colchester bought the clock made by John Buffett of Colchester in about 1720.
Auctioneers Reeman, Dansie Howe and Son sold the clock on behalf of the Wirth family of Crouch Street.
