Police have revealed the probable identity of the charred and mutilated body found in a Harwich bunker.
They believe the body is that of former Harwich School pupil Gregory Chung. His family have provided blood samples for DNA testing.
Forensic tests show Mr Chung might have been killed by fire at Beacon Hill Fort. There were traces of fire accelerant in his lungs and it is believed the mutilation of his legs could have been caused by an axe.
Mr Chung, 23, was a chef at the Kwei Ming takeaway in Church Street, Harwich, where he lived with his mother, stepfather and younger brothers.
Police are still investigating if he was responsible for his own death - or whether he was killed by someone else.
Det Supt Steve Reynolds, who is leading the investigation, said today: "Although forensic experts believe the death is not suspicious, there are still many unanswered questions."
He again ruled out a connection with the death of a Chinese chef in Colchester last month.
