A roving eye has joined the Chelmsford Police crime fighting ranks.

A £2,000 portable CCTV has been presented to police chief Supt Brian Storey (left) by Geoff Ireland, chairman of the Crime Reduction Group.

PC John Hill, Chelmsford Police Crime Prevention Officer commented: "It will be used for minor crime and nuisance and is a worthwhile addition to our resources."

Fixed CCTV has already helped cut crime in Chelmsford and new cameras are still being provided.

Chelmsford Police this week also appealed for sponsors willing to provide cars, either new or secondhand for community beat teams. Contact Pc Hill on Chelmsford 491212.
