Cadfael actor Sir Derek Jacobi is making a flying visit to Hedingham Castle to present a television documentary about the identity of William Shakespeare.
Sir Derek is the patron of a society which believes Edward de Vere - the 17th Earl of Oxford who lived at the castle - was in fact the famous playwright.
The visit follows claims more evidence has been found to reveal de Vere was the legendary Bard.
Famous for his roles in I Claudius and as ITV's detective monk Cadfael, Sir Derek will arrive at the castle after it has closed to the public.
A spokesman for the castle said: "It really is just a flying visit. He will be here purely for filming, so a time has been chosen when the castle is quiet."
