A estimated £40,000 of repairs could be needed in a sports hall at a school severely damaged by a burst water main.
The sports hall at St Clere's School, Butts Lane, Stanford-le-Hope, is below ground level and was left under a foot of water when the main burst.
Following the drama, an independent day nursery at the school had its water cut off and site agent John Lock ferried emergency supplies in containers.
Mr Lock said the sports hall floor would need to be replaced.
He said: "We found the water main had burst over the weekend outside the school. We did not realise at first that any water had got into the sports hall. But it came up under the floor, and it looks like we will need an entirely new one which could cost £30,000 to £40,000."
