Detectives investigating the violent death of a Chinese man in Colchester are set to carry out a fingertip search of undergrowth along the length of the A12 after recovering a machete.
The weapon was recovered close to the road near Colchester by a specialist search team.
Hok Wan Leung, 34, was battered to death at the Middleborough roundabout on July 25.
A machete and a baseball bat were found at the scene.
The death was linked to a fight earlier on the A12 at Easthorpe during a 60-mile car chase from London to Colchester.
Officers may search the entire route for further clues.
Twenty five people from London have appeared in court charged with conspiracy to murder.
