At the Harlow 10-Mile Road Race on Sunday, the heat was literally on as the Essex County Championship 100-mile competition was incorporated with the event which enjoyed glorious summer sunshine from the start.
Tiptree's Alan Fisher had a fine win to take county gold medal as he finished top Essex V50 and was placed inside the top 10 overall.
It also led the Tiptree men to their first team county medals as they finished second in the county competition to take silver.
The team were also the first vets to finish.
Deb Childs was the only Tiptree lady to race and battled well in the heat to finish just inside 85 minutes.
Tiptree Road Running Club's Chris Applegate raced on the Sri Chinmoy 3km race at Battersea Park on Monday.
Despite his fine efforts he just missed beating the 10 minute barrier on the tight, twisting course as he finished inside the top 10 in 0:10:02.
