A bedroom bootlegger who turned out pirated computer games and videos has had his Billericay counterfeiting operation shut down.
The pirate was tracked down at the Barleylands car boot sale in Billericay on Sunday, when 200 imitation Sony PlayStation games and 30 bootleg videos were seized.
Later in the day, the man had his home raided by officers from trading standards, Essex Police and the European Leisure Software Association.
Hi-tech equipment worth more than £6,000 was recovered from his bedroom. A large number of blank CDs and videos were also seized.
The home operation was capable of turning out a high number of illegal versions of games and videos.
Steve Lynch, head of fair trading, said the department would be continuing to track down the pirates.
He said: "This raid is part of our continuing work to smash counterfeit crime in Essex. We know who the pirates are. They will be prosecuted when they are caught.
"Counterfeiting hurts Essex businesses. Our raids help to protect local firms who are suffering at the hands of piracy."
He said officers from Essex trading standards, Essex Police and the European Leisure Software Publishers Association work closely by sharing intelligence and carrying out undercover surveillance.
