Rogue trader Nick Leeson is set to rock Southend with a guest appearance at a charity punk rock weekend, it was revealed today.
The former futures dealer who broke Barings Bank will appear at Club Riga over the weekend of August 17-19 playing with punk jokers the B*****k Brothers.
He has already been into the studio to record a version of the Frank Sinatra classic My Way with the Brothers and agreed to perform at the gig to promote its release.
He has confirmed that he will appear on Saturday, August 18 providing he is healthy enough. He has been suffering from cancer of the colon, diagnosed while he was jailed, and has been undergoing chemotherapy.
He is not being paid a fee for the gig, organised by Punk Aid, but is doing it to promote the good causes the money will be raised for.
Two charities are set to benefit from the weekender with the money being divided between cerebral palsy and the Fleetwood Music and Drama Centre for handicapped children.
A Club Riga spokesman said: "We are happy to be involved in any event that raises money for charity. We have been informed by the organiser that Nick Leeson will be performing with the band and we are more than happy to let him if it will help raise more money."
The 32-year-old former futures dealer returned to Britain last month having spent more than four years in a Singapore jail for the £650 million fraud.
He was originally sentenced to six and a half years but was released early from the maximum security prison
It is thought he will be singing along to the band's version of Frank Sinatra's My Way.
In the past the Brothers have had Buckingham Palace burglar Michael Fagin appear on an album ripping off the Sex Pistols. Fagin sang on their renditions of God Save the Queen and Pretty Vacant.
Also joining Nick Leeson will be a host of punk bands past and present including thrash metallars Napalm Death and UK Sub.
Tickets for the whole weekend are £30 available by ringing 0468 016116.
