Police have appealed for witnesses after a young couple were attacked in a Rayleigh park in the early hours of Sunday morning.
The man and woman were in Brooklands Park, near Sweyne Park school on Hockley Road, when they were attacked.
They were approached by a man who carried out what is believed to be an unprovoked attack.
The man was left with head wounds and a fracture to his right hand and arm, and the woman had bruising to her head. Both were taken to Southend General Hospital.
Police are keen to speak to anyone who saw a young man, aged about 20, slim, wearing blue jeans, who was bare-chested and carrying a white top. He was seen running away from the scene in the direction of Hockley.
Anyone with information should contact Rayleigh CID on 01268 775533 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111
