Fire crews came to the rescue when a 12-year-old girl was involved in a bizarre accident.
The youngster fell down a slope and embedded her knee on a fence nail at her home.
Friday night's incident, in Ashpole Road, Bocking, resulted in Corrinne Bright being taken to Broomfield Hospital.
Worried neighbours alerted the Fire Service and Ambulance Service after the schoolgirl slid down the slope straight onto the nail and began screaming.
One witness said neighbours were unsure of the angle of the nail and were afraid if they pulled it out it would have caused serious damage to her leg.
Braintree firemen, helped by the Colchester rescue tender released Corrinne, of Ashpole Road, and after hospital treatment she was discharged.
A family member said the incident was minor and they did not wish to comment.
