Kind-hearted pupils at Shenfield High School have presented a cheque for £1,200 to the Cystic Fibrosis Holiday Fund, raised at a concert in memory of one of their friends who died from the disease.
Sophie Dornan attended the school in Alexander Lane before she died nearly two years ago, and a group of her friends, now in year 10, have been working hard to raise money for other cystic fibrosis sufferers.
The money was raised from the second CF Comber showcase concert, which took place in April, and handed over at a special assembly on Friday.
The fund arranges for children with cystic fibrosis and their families to go on holiday.
Head of year 10 Mr Martins, said: "It was an excellent show, and the kids by doing this have kept alive Sophie's memory.
"It was all their own initiative and the pupils did absolutely everything themselves."
Linda Hickman, of the Cystic Fibrosis Holiday Fund, said: "I was quite overwhelmed that so many young people could organise such a wonderful event in memory of a friend of theirs.
"This money will go towards giving two cystic fibrosis children in Essex a holiday."
A third concert is being organised to take place in September this year.
