Twenty-four people appeared before a magistrate on Thursday charged with conspiracy to murder.
A magistrate heard the charges brought against them in connection with the murder of a man in Colchester on Sunday.
All appeared at Southend Crown Court charged with conspiracy to murder Hok Wan Leung, a chef from London.
Most of the 24 come from London, although one gives his address as Cambridge. Eight of those involved are youths.
The charges follow the arrest of another man in London on Wednesday. Officers also seized another car, a Lexus, bringing the number of cars in police hands to six, including the car the victim was in.
