Twenty-four people appeared before a magistrate on Thursday charged with conspiracy to murder.
A magistrate heard the charges brought against them in connection with the murder of a man in Colchester on Sunday.
All appeared at Southend Crown Court charged with conspiracy to murder Hok Wan Leung, a chef from London.
Most of the 24 come from London, although one gives his address as Cambridge. Eight of those involved are youths.
They were remanded in custody until August 4.
Another man was arrested in London on Wednesday. He has also been charged with conspiracy to murder and will appear today (Friday) before magistrates in Colchester.
