Forget flowers flown in for Posh Spice and David Beckham - everything for a Colchester bride's wedding is coming from the council estate where she lives.

From the post wedding knees-up in the local hall, to the cake being baked and iced by a neighbour, every little touch will make 24-year-old Nikki Read's big day a true community event.

She will marry Adrian Jackson, 30, at Colchester Register Office on Friday.

Friends living nearby will provide guests' transport and everyone will pitch in by taking photos.

Then the happy couple, who live in Wilson Marriage Road, on St Anne's, will return to the estate for the celebrations in the adventure playground hall.

A DJ who lives a few roads away will provide the sounds, friends and neighbours will cook food for the buffet and the bridesmaids' flowers have been put together on the estate.

Nikki's mum Julie Read has made the wedding gown and three bridesmaids' outfits while a hairdresser from St Anne's will be making sure the bride's locks are lovely.

Mrs Bareham, of Wilson Marriage Road, who is making the cake said, said: "I don't think people realise what is available on the estate. It certainly will be a wedding with a true community feel as everyone has chipped in to help."
