New Colchester United skipper Warren Aspinall has targeted a place in the Division Two play-offs in the coming season.
Aspinall lifted his second trophy in three days after the U's beat Harwich 2-1 to win the Harwich Charity Cup Centenary Shield - and then looked forward to more success.
He said: "We've won these two cups, and although they mean little, you have to get in the habit of winning. Now we can look for two more in the League and the Auto Windscreens.
"I certainly feel we can get up in the play-offs. I've worked with the gaffer before and know what he's doing. He brought players with Premiership experience in and that's going to help Colchester United hopefully.
"They are good players and I feel they're all gelling together. The confidence is there and hopefully we'll go on and win at Chesterfield on the opening day."
Aspinall was the only senior player on show during last night's game as boss Mick Wadsworth gave his young first-team hopefuls - such as summer signings Thomas Pinault and Craig Farley - the chance to impress.
The 32-year-old midfielder came through with flying colours, showing no effects of his recent stomach strain as the U's made it eight pre-season matches without defeat.
Aspinall added: "I played at the weekend and now this game and I've felt nothing. There's a couple more pre-season games left and I'm raring to go."
