IPSWICH & EAST SUFFOLK II............183-8
MALDON II................................................184-6
(Maldon won by four wickets)
Maldon's opening bowlers, G. Sims, 13, and Mike Newman kept the Ipswich batsmen under control inn the early stages of Saturday's match.
Only Eaglesham (40) and Thorndyke (68) broke free, but with the introduction of the 'out of retirement' Geoff Newman, who showed he has not lost his flight and guide, Ipswich could only manage 183 for eight off their 45 overs.
Maldon's reply started brightly with Philpott and A. Sims putting on 92 before Sims was finally out for 27.
Philpott nearly batted throughout the innings, but when he reached his century he was bowled out and it was left to skipper Mike Newman to hit the winning runs with four overs to spare.
