This ageing horse may have to be put down if a new home cannot be found for her.

Amber, a 25-year-old chestnut-coloured mare, is owned by Pamela Owens who suffers from the muscle wasting disease multiple sclerosis.

Mrs Owens, 42, from Willow Close, Canvey, said: "I really do not want to let Amber go, but I have no choice.

"The multiple sclerosis means I can no longer walk very far and she has just become too much of a burden.

"It is a shame as Amber has been a real tonic for me, even though she cannot be ridden due to a hairline fracture she suffered some years ago.

"She may be 25 years old but she doesn't look it and at times she acts like a three-year-old."

She added: "I just cannot bear the thought of putting her down but I am unable to cope any more.

"She is a beautiful horse with a wonderful

temperament, but she does not take too kindly to other horses.

"I will miss her badly, but would love to see her go to a loving home to live out the rest of her days."

Anyone who can offer Amber a home should contact Mrs Owens on 01268 681423.
