A man tried to hide £1,300 of drugs under his duvet when police searched his home.
David Austin-Jones pretended to go back to bed after he answered the door to police armed with a warrant to search his home in Centurian Way, Purfleet, last November.
An officer insisted he get up to witness the search and the blue box of drugs, containing £1,067 of speed and cannabis worth £262, Austin-Jones was
clutching under his duvet was discovered.
The 25-year-old said he was looking after the drugs on behalf of a man not made known to Basildon Crown Court.
Mr Justice Michael Yelton said he guessed Austin-Jones was doing the "favour" in return for free drugs for himself rather than for financial gain.
Austin-Jones pleaded guilty to three charges of possessing drugs and was given a three month prison sentence.
