Purr-fect pals Puss and Sukie will be in need of some tender loving care and a new place to live when their home is put up for auction.
The furry friends have lived at troubled Beveland Lodge on Canvey for several years but will be made homeless when it closes its doors next week.
The residential home in Beveland Road was passed to the control of management company Buchler Phillips in January after previous owner Bill Davidson was declared bankrupt.
The London-based company is putting the home up for auction on August 11 after attempts to find a buyer failed.
Although the very best attempts are being made by staff to rehome the 16 pensioners, the home's two cats also need somewhere else to live.
Puss, a black tom and Sukie, who is tortoiseshell, have lived at the home since it opened 13 years ago.
They are both getting on in years and really need a quiet place to end their days.
Valerie Gardner, manager of Beveland Lodge, said: "They are absolutely lovely cats and no trouble at all.
"Some of the residents here have collected some pennies so we could send them off with some food.
"We just want them to go to a good home, preferably together. Somebody, somewhere must have a heart and will be able to take them in."
