The Notley Charity Fours, a carpet bowls competition for the Pat Mace Memorial Cup, Pat being a former Notley Club member, took place over three weekends at White Notley Village Hall.
A total of 48 teams from all over Essex competed on the first two Saturdays for one of 12 places in the final rounds, which were held on Saturday.
After some excellent bowling the first semi-final was between teams from Chelmer Village and Great Leighs Carpet Bowls Clubs, and the second between teams from Hunters and White Notley Carpet Bowls Clubs.
Great Leighs and White Notley then played a closely contested final, Leighs winning after White Notley forced an extra end by drawing level at 7-7 after seven ends.
Thanks to the generous support of all those taking part, the record sum of £1,035 was raised for the Imperial Cancer Research Fund, taking the total raised over the five years this competition has been held, to £4,660.
