A Wickford Beaver pack is being forced to close because no-one will come forward to help out.
These youngsters are set to miss out on a host of fun activities when their leader Pat Phillips leaves in September.
Pat has been trying to quit the group, which belongs to the 4th Wickford Scout pack, for the past 12 months after joining eight years ago.
She said: "It's such a shame but at the moment it looks like we're going to have to close down because we can't find a replacement.
"I've spoken to the mums of the boys but they aren't interested. The boys have good fun and I'm sure they're really going to miss going to the Beavers."
A leader plus a couple of new helpers are needed to supervise activities such as walks, talks, cookery classes and possibly outings.
The boys, aged six to eight, meet at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, in London Road, Wickford, on Thursdays from 4.15-5.30pm.
If you can help call Pat on 01268 763278.
