Colchester Sixth Form College student Robert Tanner is aiming for the top after training with Ipswich Town.
Tanner, 19, today (Friday) completed a one-week trial with the First Division club and is waiting to see whether Blues boss George Burley invites him back.
Burley spotted the talented goalkeeper playing for the college in a cup final at Town's training ground last season.
He explained: "I got a call on Sunday night telling me to be at the training ground the next day. Richard Wright has been fantastic and has passed on so many tips it's made me a better keeper already."
Tanner, who is going on to study sports science at university in September, added: "The experience has definitely whetted my appetite for a career in the game."
