Saturday saw Chelmsford Athletics Club men's team at Woodford Green for a Southern Men's League Division Two match, and it was a fixture that the club needed to do well in to help avoid relegation.
They finished in third place out of five clubs and a similar result in the final fixture of the season on July 31 should see them avoid the drop.
Also on Saturday the B team travelled to Swindon for a division six fixture and finished fourth.
They also need a similar result on their last match of the season, at Salisbury, on July 31, to avoid the drop.
On Sunday the club had a short trip to Braintree for the third Anglian League fixture of the season with over 70 of the club athletes competing.
The results on the day reflected the turnout, with wins in three of the seven age groups, senior men, and senior women and under 15 girls.
Second places were gained by the under 17, under 15 and under 13 boys.
Only the under 13 girls who finished fourth will struggle to reach the final of the competition, which is to be held at Chelmsford on September 19.
In the senior mens event, Gavin Chatterton won the 800 metres, while in the 3000m seven of the clubs athletes competed, more than all of the other six clubs put together.
In the senior women's competition the best points came from the 1500m in which Emma Allen came second in the A string and Anna Ferguson won the B string.
In the 100m and 200m, Catriona Slater was second in both and Becky Mitchell won both of the B string races.
The under 17 boys finished in second place in their age group. David Fewell won the B string 1500m.
The under 15 boys came second overall. Phil Trainer won both the 100m and 200m races.
Ewan Graham came second in a high quality high jump competition after coming fourth in the English Schools on the previous day.
The under 13 boys came second in their age group, while James Moore won the 80m Hurdles and Ben Davies won the 800m.
Other members of the team were Ben Bishop, James Court, Luke Inwood, Danny Sleet, Billy Stables, Alex Stratton and Oliver Warrington.
The under 15 girls won their age group. Catherine Howe won the High Jump and Lottie Robinson won the B string.
Danielle Tatum won the 1500m A string and Hollie Smith the B string.
Other team members were Sally Dewar and Cherelle Whiteman.
The under 13 girls suffered from a lack of numbers and will now struggle to reach the final unless more of them are available for the next meeting.
The team consisted of Jade Blighton, Amanda Dodd, Sarah Jarvis and Emma Johnson. Also many under 11's competed, Aaron Colvin, Lauren Jannece, Sarah Jarvis and Laura Stratton.
