The Junior Section of Channels Golf Club played in their 36 hole Junior Championship on Saturday.
The Junior Captain, Ross Wilson, led the field with gross scores of 69 and 72, one under for the day.
Lee Shrimpton was second with gross scores of 74 and 73 and he also won the handicap prize with his five handicap, producing net scores of 69 and 68.
Earlier in the week the Ladies Silver Team hosted Hainault but lost 5-2.
The team of Maria Davis, Maureen Woollcott, Lis Gander, Marlene Wilson, Helen Davis, Sandra Bramley and Madeline Le Maistre gave their opposition a good run for their money, but at the end of the day, Channels only found winners in Helen Davis and Sandra Bromley.
On Sunday, 'The Ladies Choice' Greensomes Competition was held.
In this competition the ladies invite a male member of the club, other than their usual partner, to make up the mixed pair for the day.
The winners were Ivy O'Brien and Tom Wilson with 40 points. Connie Bloy and Bill Dunbar came second on countback from Janet Sorrell and Alan Mitchell, both couples having scored 39 points. Fourth place went to Ann Malyon and John Wheelhouse on 38 points.
The Best Front Nine was won by Tina Daw and Kevin Kelly with 22 points and the Best Back Nine by Leslie Thomas and John Crowe with 21 points.
Chelmsford Golf Club's Ladies Silver Team entertained Colchester for the fifth match in their Essex County Ladies Inter Club Competition.
Both teams had won their previous four matches so both had everything to play for.
Chelmsford turned at the halfway mark just holding an advantage, and eventually won by five matches to two.
OUTCOME
Chelmsford have one more away game to play at Warley Park, while Colchester have a home match against Thorndon Park.
The outcome of those matches will decide which team proceeds to the semi-final.
The Chelmsford team was Eileen Croker (captain), Trish Wilson, Kelly Martin, Pat Garner, Jean Johnson, Alison Evans, Amanda Colgate and Joyce Allison.
The Club's entertainment Committee put on a Team Golf event which was run as a Mixed Texas Scramble run along the lines of the Clubs Pot Luck Competition.
The title of "Pot Luck" has nothing to do with the score, but is the description given to your partner arising from a blind draw.
The Retired Members Group played host to Maylands for their home game, and captained by the Retired Gentlemen's Captain, Bill Williams, Chelmsford comfortably won, 7.5-0.5.
HANDICAP
The Bellamy Cup, a men's competition, was presented to Chelmsford Golf Club in 1945 by J.T. Bellamy to commemorate victory in Europe, and is played as a 36 hole Stableford Competition under full handicap allowance.
This year's event saw a superb round from Chelmsford Golf Club's Andy Petts, playing off a handicap of 1.5 with a gross score of 65, 41 points which equals the professional best score for Chelmsford and sets a new amateur course record for the Club.
Andy's handicap comes down to 1.0 which is a tremendous achievement on the Chelmsford course.
Andy's efforts, however, were not quite sufficient to win the trophy which was won by Paddy Parlour with a nett 73 points.
The full results were Paddy Parlour (nett 73 points); Andy Petts (72 points); David Knights (71 points) and David Southgate (70 points) on countback from Paul Connell.Competitors had the benefit of excellent weather and playing conditions when The Warren Golf Club hosted the Coronation Trophy last week.
This popular 36 hole 4BBB Stableford competition was won on countback with 88 points by Bob Page and Colin Russell of Bentley Golf Club, from Glynn Williams and Brian Maloney of Crondon Park GC.
MATCHED
Warren members, Brian Hadaway and Terry Tyson, took the morning prize with 44 points, a score which was matched in the afternoon by Colin Ward and Ron Thackray.
Ladies Captain Linda Aylett organised an 'away day' to Manor of Groves Golf Club, where the Professional is former Warren member, Craig Lawrence.
Lynne Kirkham partnered by Dagmar Hampton achieved 40 points in the 4BBB, with Val Nicholson and Linda Townsend just one point behind.
Pennie Lipscomb hit the longest drive and Ann Lisamer made nearest the pin.
The Warren Cadets, Rob McLaren, Noel Greig, Jon Phillips, Jon Reason and Andy Morrison achieved another notable success by defeating Boyce Hill at the Essex Golf & Country Club on Saturday in the quarter final of the Essex County Youth Shield.
PROGRESSED
It was a tight match, which, on handicap, should have favoured Boyce Hill, and with the match score tied at 2-2, Andy Morrison ensured that The Warren progressed to the next round by taking his match 3 & 1.
On Sunday, the Warren Lady Captain, Linda Aylett and her husband Tony, narrowly won the Mixed Greensomes Stableford for the Jubilee Bowl with 40 points from Linda and David Townsend on 39 points.
Friday saw Ray Clark, the Head Greenkeeper of the Channels/Regiment Way Complex, host the second of his sponsored competitions for 'The Greenkeepers Putter".
This competition was played over nine holes off 3/4 handicap as a stableford and followed by a nine hole putting competition, the number of putts being deducted from the stableford score.
A player gaining the regulation 18 points for the nine holes and then putting out in the regulation 18 putts would finish level at 0.
The first prize went to Ray Watts who scored 24 points and then took 20 putts to finish on +4.
Club Captain, Nigel Savage, came second on countback from Club President Richard Stubbings, both gentlemen finishing on +1.
The "Longest Drive" prize went to Val Cook and the two 'Nearest the Pin' prizes to Graham Minett, the eighth and Brian Piercey, the fifth.
IDEAL
Following the rule of only one prize for one player, Phil Brown won the 'nine hole stableford' with 20 points and Nick Hawkins won the "Putting Competition".
On Saturday, the Monthly Medal for July was played for, and the Men's Medal Winner was Mike Simmonds (gross 78, handicap 24, nett 54) and John Chapman came second on 75/19/56.
The Lady winner was Sue Jones, gross 89, h/cap 35, nett 54. Second place was taken on countback by Nicola Pippen with her 97/34/63. Losing on countback was Kay Lawson on 101/38/63.
