Chelmsford Chieftains have signed Carl Greenhous for the forthcoming season. Canadian Greenhous was born in Ottowa and now lives in Ontario.

For Greenhous it is his second stint with Chieftains, having spent the early part of the 1995/96 season with the club before injury forced him home after only a handful of games.

Greenhous is 6ft 2in tall and weighs 220lbs.

He is a hard 'stay at home' defenceman who will add strength to Chieftains' already formidable defensive unit.

Carl has played the last season and a half with Memphis Riverkings in the Central Hockey League in the USA after playing the early half of the 1997/98 season with Telford Tigers in the British National League.

He played his early hockey with Hamilton College in the American Division Three.

Chieftains Director John Blundell, commenting on the capture of Greenhous said: "We are absolutely delighted to have signed Carl for Chieftains for next season. I am sure Chieftains' fans will remember the few games he played for us back in 1995/96 and know he is a quality defender.

"He is extremely fit and well over his injury which forced him home before.

"We now have the basis of our team with a strong defence and will now look to put the forward lines in place, we will be looking towards the Scandinavian countries for at least two forwards."
