Danbury travelled to Roxwell where, for the home side, only A Beard (27) and D Buttleman (19) showed any resistance with the bat against the bowling of Rayner (2-18 in 12 overs) and Webb (4-15 in seven overs) as their side were dismissed for just 108.

In reply, Danbury easily secured their ninth win of the season by reaching 113 for one in the 28th over, James Banfield scoring an unbeaten 53.

Burnham Sports batted first at Laindon Taverners and were dismissed for a modest 165 with Layzell scoring 40 and Barthorpe 31.

Tim Linahan took four for 33 in eight overs and R. Eaton three for 43 in 12 overs.

The visitors felt this to be a totally inadequate score to defend, and their fears proved well founded as the hosts reached 166 without loss, the in-form Trevor Linahan finishing unbeaten on 99 (one run short of a third consecutive century) and A. Goodey contributed 58 not out.

Rayleigh entertained Little Baddow and, on a featherbed wicket, the visitors rattled up a total of 280 for three with Calvin Cole (131 no) and P Suthery (74 no) taking advantage of the conditions.

The home side, in turn also found the wicket much of their liking but, despite Paul Dudmish contributing 119, still finished 12 runs short of victory on 268 for seven.

Great Burstead batted first against their hosts, Great Totham and, with 101 not out coming from Richard Woolgar and 65 from Taylor, were closed at 229 for six.

Totham never came to terms with this target and eventually subsided to 109 all out, Knowles snapping up four for 26.

At Terling , Herongate had Hemmings (48), Palmer (42), and Packard (33) to thank for their total 216 for eight, only A Stevens (4-27 in 12 overs) putting a brake on.

This total proved too large for Terling, and although Tim Ives scored 70 and A Stevens 30, they were all out for 156, with B Mail taking four for 41 in 11 overs and D Follett four for 30 in eight overs.
