Chelmsford City Ladies Football Club started their pre-season warm-up by competing in the annual Rochford Sports Council six-a-side tournament on Sunday.
Group victories over Southend 4-0, Old Southendians 2-1 and White Notley 3-0 set up a semi-final tie with Colchester United.
A battling 4-2 win over Colchester saw Chelmsford through and they will make the trip to Rayleigh on Saturday to take on Southend in the final, and if City win, it will be their third successive victory in the competition.
Chelmsford City Ladies are looking for new players for the forthcoming season.
They will be running teams at Under 11, 12, 13, 14 age groups and are running a new team at Under 16 level. All these teams will be competing in the Essex County Girls League.
Players are also required for the club's two Senior teams, the first team will be in the Premier Division of the Eastern Region League, where they finished in second place last season.
City also retained the Essex County FA Cup while the Reserves will again be competing in the Essex County League, and they will be hoping to go one better after finishing second last season, and also reached the League Cup final.
Training resumes on Wednesday, July 21 at Rainsford High School. (Juniors 6pm to 7pm and Seniors 7 to 9pm).
Anybody who may be interested in joining the successful City set-up, is invited to telephone Dawn Barnard on 01245 284377.
