A post mortem was being carried out today (Friday) after a man was found dead in Westcliff.
Police believe the death of the 30-year-old, discovered in a property in Pembury Road yesterday, could be drugs related, but have ruled out foul play.
Paramedics were the first on the scene at 1pm yesterday when they found the dead man and a second man unconscious at the scene.
The second man, aged 24, was rushed to the intensive care unit at Southend Hospital. He was still unconscious this morning.
Officers from Southend CID were alerted to the discovery but after an investigation they ruled there were no suspicious circumstances.
A spokesman for the coroner's office said: "There was no obvious cause of death. A post mortem has been arranged for today."
