Rankins...................................................204-9

Rayne .......................................................207-4

(Rayne won by six wickets)

(T. Rippon League Division Four)

Rayne extended their winning run to four games with Saturday's win over their visitors, Division Four leaders Rankins, and put Rayne right in the thick of the promotion race.

Rankins won the toss and elected to bat on a good batting wicket at Oak Meadow.

Dutton and Alderton made a strong start as they played the ball all around the ground in the opening overs, and took the score to 35 in the seventh over before Nick Hasler had Alderton caught for 17.

This brought Gammon to the wicket, and having survived an early chance went on to share a stand of 47 with Dutton as Rankins moved into a commanding position at the end of the 17th over with 80 on the board.

Richard Dawson then claimed the wicket of Gammon as Rayne edged their way back into the game, but Rankins still had their sites set on a total in excess of 240.

Dutton completed his half century before he fell to a good diving catch at mid-wicket by Richard Whiteside.

Warner kept the board ticking over with some quick singles as he moved onto 32 when he chanced his luck once too often and was run out.

Ian Clark(2-19) and Mark Sainsbury (1-52) shifted the game back in Rayne's favour with some tight bowling at the end of the innings, restricting Rankins to 24 runs for the loss of four wickets in the final six overs

Rayne's reply slumped to 32 for three as the top order failed to capitalise on the good work done by the bowlers.

Woods and Brooking were making run scoring hard work, forcing Rayne to dig in before making their assault.

Woods completed his allocation of overs with superb figures of 12-5-23-2, but this was the signal for Rayne to attack.

Mark Sainsbury carried on his good form as he reached his half century, and with the support of Peter Dawson they moved the score onto 85 with 20 overs remaining.

Rankins shuffled their bowlers in search of a wicket but they could not claim that elusive wicket asDawson rattled up a personal 50, and Sainsbury completed a well deserved century.

Brooks was brought back into the attack, but by which time it was too late, although he did claim the wicket of Dawson for 59, and breaking the fourth wicket stand of 163.

Sainsbury ended unbeaten on 113 as Neil Cheatle hit the winning runs with two overs to spare.
